When axes were way cooler than they are now

The Prohibitionist
A long time ago, I wanted to do this comic book that was set during Prohibition, with the culmination taking place during the day they finally repealed the thirteenth amendment, thus ending the ban. There were a fair amount of plot devices and characters, probably to many to list here. Basically, I thought the idea was a good one, but I couldn't ever put it together. There was a bookstore owner, who was in love with his underage assistant. He eventually became the Prohibitionist (not sure why) and battled smugglers and the Grey Ghost, who was a real figure. He would rob mobsters and steal their stashes of liquor, and I think he ended up selling it himself. And he had a boat. Which seems pretty metropolitan for the time. There was going to be this woman named Dallas who kept throwing lavish parties. I think she was real, too. The ending scene was my favorite, as I was going to borrow heavily from "The good, the bad, and the ugly", which is one of my dad's favorite movies. But in the end, our protagnost got killed, dying in an alley as everyone celebrated the repeal of thirteen just feet away. Also, his love interest was riding a bus out of town. I thought there could be some good imagery there. Going back a second, the Prohibitionist would have been the good, the Grey Ghost would have been the bad, and the sadistic muscle of one of the mobsters would have been the ugly. He would have died, too. Only the Grey Ghost would have made it out, but maybe he would have beend arrested. I don't know. But anyway, that was the idea.
