Pen of the future!

I want us all to agree that our communication with computers is limited by crapping interface. Typing isn't really where it is at and the mouse is even less so. Now, I'm not going to propose a computer you can hug, but a device that I think would make a good stop gap until the mind-reading computing systems of the future.

I'm imagining you writing in your journal, or sketching your favourite crush while kicking your heels up on your bed or couch. And what I'm seeing is all that scribbling being recorded and sent wirelessly to your computer (think box). So when you get up to go to your computer, there is an image file of what you were just drawing or a word document with the transcription of what you were just writing--spell checkable and all.

So the pen will obvs have its own storage system, so that when you're writing furiously at a cafe all of your brilliant thoughts will totes be with you when you get back at home...so you can...blog them...or whatever.

It would not surprise me to hear that this already exists, but perhaps not ideally enough yet. Why I think it is great tho' is because it lets you do what you want to do normally with a pen and is actually a pen. But it will save you the translation time or copying what you've written into the digital world. This way you can have a written copy of things if you want it. I think an even better advancement would be the ability to re-edit using said pen. So like, if you go back to your journal and are on a specific page and start crossing words out or adding new words, that the pen will be able to tell and edit the appropriate document and not just create a new one or something.

I swear this is all doable. And valuable. I'm just saying, a hundred years from now, when peeps are trying to studying the authors of our day and they have to find some silly floppy disc instead of a stack of paper, we're going to regret going totally digital. I still think we should leave a little mark. And back it up.
