Breakaway

Brother Nate is rapidly becoming the John Stockton to my Karl Malone. The Steve Nash to my Amare Stoudamire/ Shawn Marion.

Basically, he helped with this one.

I watched Derek Jeter get hit in the elbow pretty hard yesterday with a pitch. It looked like it hurt a whole lot. We (Brother Nate and I) both wondered why more guys don't armor up like Barry Bonds. The most likely factor? Mobility, or the lack thereof.

But then I thought it would be cool if guys could wear all the baseball armor they wanted and could get rid of it with one push of a button. So you have your shin guards and elbow braces and wrist protectors, all that stuff, and when you hit the ball and need to move quickly, you hit a button. Maybe it's on your wrist, maybe it's on your belt, but all the armor just breaks away as you run down the line. It's the best of both worlds.

You'd be like a super hero baseball player.

I could see how this might suck if you say, hit a foul ball, and had pushed the de-armor button thinking the ball was going to be fair. You'd probably have to get back in there "naked".

I think it could work for football, too. Like maybe your pads and helmet would fall off if you hit the button. It would add a really cool element to the game because if you pressed the button too soon and let all the pads fall away, you'd probably be killed if the right guy tackled you. On the other hand, hitting it at the right time would make you lighter, thus faster, and you could get away from all the bad guys.
