This is it. This is the final installment, I promise.
MTV's Unplugged should be a regular feature. I don't care if it's once a month or once a week, just get it done. See, you could convince the bigwigs to bring this back with acoustic performances by bands like U2, Green Day, and Fall Out Boy. But mixed in with all the mega acts could be performances by Interpol and um, someone else.
I think the sort of forced coffee shop vibe with the audience surrounding the band needs to go. Just put them on a little stage in some old venue and let them play like normal. And none of this sitting down garabge. Sitting down and playing music for others is just pretentious.
Partner with iTunes and make one song from each performance available immediately after the show. If it was weekly you could really dig the dredges of popular music and maybe even branch out to include some hip hop acts. I'd be curious to see how that went over. There are ways to make this work and work better and allow it to thrive on regular TV.
