ThanksFriendly

So this idea really works. I've tested it. I even just did it this week! So I know it works.

The idea is a simple exchange. One that, in my opinion benefits all involved. The one issue is if you live close to your family. Then, even if you like this idea, it might be a lot harder for you to accomplish. But you can try anyways!

The trade is Thanksgiving for Xmas. Or to be more precise, an extra day or two is given to Xmas celebrating in trade for not going home from Thanksgiving. People who have to travel to see there families are put into a horrible rush by the need to return for a single night to see them. And Thanksgiving is notorious for being painful for a lot of people. I personally love it and love to spend it with my family. But lately that has been too complicated. And it just makes more sense to spend that extra time over the Xmastide times than to have one rushed and potentially painful day of awful travel.

And the benefits! You can gather a crew of friends and have a lovely Thanksgiving holiday with them. And you can do all of the traditional things (or not) but really bring that joyous attitude that is often missing after a four hour plane ride through the blowing snow whilst heading back to the homestead.

I would go as far as to say that Thanksgiving would be better off it is became a friend based holiday. And one about bringing together the people that you spend your day to day, or rather, your closest close friends together to enjoy each other...mindfully.

And then Xmas can be the realm of the family. And even more so. Time spent more calmly, reuniting old bonds and some such.

You get it. Now get it.
