You know the part on Price is Right, when everyone is still vying to get to play one of the awesome game by bidding on something? And there's always the a-hole who blocks the person before them by putting a bid $1 over? I want to turn that into a game show.
But it would basically be picking a number between 1-100. No bidding. You get a celebrity host, and a celebrity "guesser" to select the number. Then you take four contestants and put them in sealed booths so no one can see what anyone else is guessing. Then you let them out, still not saying what people's guesses were. If any guess was doubled up, those people are eliminated. That would probably be pretty rare. So assuming all four are left, you eliminate the two guesses that were the farthest away. Those numbers are then revealed. The two people go back in and guess again, presumably with a much smaller range. Then the farthest away gets booted and the remaining guest gets a chance to change his or her number and then they reveal what it was. For each digit you wee off, you lose $5,000 off the $500,00 prize. You could do this with more contestants, too, I guess. I also suppose the safe bet would be to guess in the middle, hoping to stick around for the second round. Except based on what other people guessed, and what the number would be, that might not work.
This may not make sense and seem ridiculous, but just look at some of the most popular game shows right now. They're idiotic. I'll put up the money for this one. We're going to call it..."1 vs. 100". Wait, never mind....
