Self-esteem engine

That title may have nothing to do with the idea, but if you say it correctly you can sound like someone doing a really poor impression of one who hails from Italy saying "self steam engine".

Today's is a very specific idea and one that you may never have a need for. Or mayhaps you already have.

Anyway, running shoes are supposed to last for a predetermined number of miles. I forget what number is, and I don't want to know. I want my shoes to tell me when they're ready to die.

'Cuz check this out; I bought some shoes and I've been running the hell out of them and they're starting to wear down. But I don't know if they're done, as in I need to get new ones.

So why can't there be a layer of sole that is a different color and when it gets exposed, it's time for new ones?

See, this is all very specific. If you just walk around then you probably replace shows long before you need to. You'll get sick of them before long. But if you purposely wear them down then it would be super helpful to know when to chuck them.

Chuck taylors.

200 miles.{maybe 300.} which is bull, because i've definitely run 200 miles in my shoes. and they're still kicking.
or maybe i'm just poor.

dwyer gave me this advice: buy new shoes when you think you need new shoes.
