This was a revelation for me today. I've used Google Earth and the satellite images on Google Maps for lots of things, but did you know you can also find amusement parks? It may take a few hundred bucks to actually get yourself to Disneyland, but you can take a virtual tour of the place, for free! This is a unique perspective on something a lot of us know pretty well.
I mean, for me, Disneyland is a place that just screams childhood fun. I went there with my dad and it is my first conscious memory of concurring fear, such as a giant metal cart screaming around a track with absolutely no guarantees of your safety. Yeah, I was afraid of them. But my dad and stepmom were patient, and I got over it. And that is one of many good memories there.
So it was cool to get a birdseye view of the place. Some things looked absolutely familiar, while others took some remembering and "Oh, wait, if that's over there...then ok, yeah...then that would be...."
It was fun. I highly recommend it. Maybe you have a place you're nostalgic for that you could be "visiting" right now.
Um, but it sort of needs to be outside. I don't think they've invented Google Inside Your MFing House yet.
