Real simple idea today, something you can practice every day if you like. So people are always telling their dreams to you right? And sometimes this is immensely entertaining and sometimes it just drags on. I know some people fall into one camp or another, either hating to hear dreams or loving to. While I certainly love hearing people's dreams, I have a suggestion.
At least as far as I have heard, current cognitively scientific thinking says that dreams are pretty much still, non-narrative images that happen or appear almost instantaneously. What I think you should do is write down whatever images you can remember as quickly as you can without imposing any narrative. There will be gaps that are unexplained, that's great! Don't try to fill them in. Just write down all the disparate images you can. Now I think if you gave that set of dream images to someone else, maybe even in random order, how neat would it be to see what someone else would do with your dreams? What sort of story would they make out of them? How different is that? Sooo different.
Cause of course you can't help but write in a little narrative for yourself about how the dreams happened and at least how that made you feel if not what you think about them. But then someone else is going to come along and resort all of those images, put a whole new narrative to those images conjured in your head. How neat! Think of it like MadLibs: Dream Edition. Think of it as a way to get back to the images and out of your conscious head's silly, ill-informed and arcane interpretations. Daily exercise people. Listen to what your head as to say and practice not interrupting it.
