This is real life, right now

I only seem to be comfortable writing about sports when I assume no one is reading. When I assume everyone else is too busy. Perhaps this is a character flaw of mine?

But it is football's offseason right now, which means teams are preparing for the draft and signing free agents and generally executing their plans. However, there seems to be a large number of teams that have no plan. I can't fathom that they are simply inept at executing said plan. No, I think they have no plan.

I don't get it. My idea, which of course can be expanded to anything, is very simply that football teams develop and adhere to a plan. Where are we now? Where do we want to be in 5 years? What steps do we need to take to get there? Then you evaluate the plan every so many years and make minor changes based on results and events you can't control. If you make a major change then you are admitting the original plan was flawed or that the world came crashing in on your plan so badly that it is, again, flawed. But not your fault in that case.

In any scenario, YOU ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN FOR YOUR TEAM.

People do this in business all the time. It's called business.

Observant readers will be able to tell my favorite team has no plan.
