Borrowed from video games

This is one of those specific ideas that will make my life better when I watch baseball on TV.

Maybe that doesn't really impact your life much. If that's the case, please accept my humblest apologies!

So, here's the scenario. There's a runner on first, one out. The batter hits a ball deep into right field, over the right fielders head. The camera follows the ball as it bounces of the wall. That's all fine and well, but what's the guy on first doing? Did he take off immediately, or did he wait to see if it was caught?

There's the little mock-up of the bases and when someone is on a base, it's lit up. But they never show movement.

Now in video games, the little yellow light representing a runner moves when the runner does.

I need the same thing in real life. The technology for this exists, I'm sure.

It may seem silly, but this is one step closer to allowing you to "see" and know the things you could if you were there.

Simple, specific. Get it done, Fox channel, get it done.

So if FOX starts doing this does that mean I have to like them?

And really, if we can have the yellow line in football I'm sure this would be almost as simple.

Why not just give us a picture-in-picture screen, down in the corner, of the runner on first? You could even have up to three, small windows along the bottom of the screen in the case of bases loaded, that are trained on the runners no matter what they do.

As I have a 63" widescreen TV, I see no problem with this idea.

Yes! Picture in picture would work, too. And still borrows from the VG world. This is how the Madden football games used to track recievers to see if they were open. I guess it would be annoying if one had a 6" TV, but still....well done!
