Apparently shopping cart theft is a big deal to some people. I could care less. I think every shopping cart should be stolen. I mean, who the hell cares, right?
Anyway, I had this idea to prevent said theft. Again, I don't really give one single care about this, but I think I've figured out a way to stop it.
You know those shock collars for dogs? Not the ones that you control, but the ones that essentially great an invisible fence around an area. Well why can't we apply that same invisible fence technology to shopping carts? Now, I'm not proposing that we shock potenial cart thieves. That would be preposterous. But we could have that invisible fence trigger some sort of wheel lock on all four wheels. That way if you push the cart to far away, it stops working.
I don't what the cost on something like would be. I really don't think you'd have to create new shopping carts altogether, so that would help the cost. I also don't know what it would airports or grocery stores lose per year from having cart thefts. I'm sure if you look at the title of this post you can tell I don't think it's very much.
But anyway, somebody cares about it, so maybe this can be helpful.

You're like a mind reader. They totally do this already. The TJ's in Soma has this. All it is is a serious brake on one wheel that totally immobilizes the thing. Pretty creepy actually. I think its a magnet of some sort.
