Much like the two items in the title of this post, sports and gambling go really well together. They both certainly exist on their won, but get brought to new heights when paired.
So here's a new feature for sports on TV and a way to bet on it. It goes like this: smart oddsmakers set the amount of real time they think the game will go. From first pitch/ tip off/ kickoff to the last out/ buzzer/ tackle. We'll call it Estimated Real Time (ERT). They'd have to give a lot of consideration to a lot of factors like weather, who the refs are, etc. It would be a real tough nut to crack accurately.
Now, as a fan, you get to wager on whether you think the ERT is too long or too short.
People who have sports watchers in their lives and are always wondering how much REAL time is left would now have at least a best guess. And sports fans would have something else to bet on.
Winner, winner...chicken dinner.
