I had this weird "future thought" kind of idea yesterday, but I think it would be interesting to explore. I don't have any of specs worked out, but I'm interested in addressing the issue that, as creatures we're sort of useless and our tools are always sort of far away and disconnected from us. Cause come on, the tool belt is a rad invention, but I think we can do better.
So my idea is to incorporate whatever tools we can into a sort of glove. Ideally this will never get any thicker than your typical work glove and maybe it could even get super thin and skin tight. And what I'm thinking is that we could incorporate into the glove whatever tools we could get to fit, sort of like a swiss army knife but way closer to hand. It could be simple things like the sides of the glove where you would grip to open a really tight lid would have a special gripper material. And there could be like little hidden away tools, like an exacto knife and saw blades on the side of your hand. Even the tips of the fingers could serve as a wrench.
My basic premise is taking the things we would naturally do with our hands and combine that with what we can do with tools. I figure we need to be super advance to actually create something that is both thin enough not to get in the way, but like super tough so you could use the side of your hand like an ax.
I know I sounds like a ridiculous seven year old, but maybe it is time we all became cyborgs for feel.
Again, future thoughts, just for fun. Just swim in the ridiculous with me.
