Green Thumb

I think this is a little bit like the urban rooftop wine program I proposed a while back, but so be it.

More crops. People in suburbia and even in cities should be able to grow crops of whatever they like. Corn, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, etc.

I know a fair amount of people who have gardens, but usually just tend to flowers and ferns. There's nothing wrong with that, but how cool would it be to grow something yourself and serve it to your friends? Or just make a meal out of things you made? Pretty damn cool, that's how cool it would be. And you know you'll grow more than you can eat, which means you get to be the person giving away homegrown, pesticide free stuff.

Ok, so the time thing. If you've already got a garden (no matter the size) turning it into a crop wouldn't kill you. Even just half of it.

Maybe you don't have a garden, or the time to tend one. Maybe this isn't for you then. But you could start with one of those counter top herb things. Those are easy and totally count.

I think there are so many kits that make this type of thing really easy and accessible that there's no reason not to do it.
