Today marks the end of year one and the fifth day of year two, if you can follow our complicated system. The parade for our accomplishment was tied in with the Rose Bowl, so you may have missed it. It was pretty great.
It's fitting that today NowEverybody and I are typing these posts at the same time, in the same office. One of our first dreams was to get some empire office space to share and here we are, albeit in some perverted sense of things. It isn't our office. But being in something is 9/10 of the law, right? We still want to have our own office. And a farm. And books. And we'll no doubt get those things in the very near future. I am confident.
My idea for today is something called The Idea Trust and it is how we're going to sustain this project into the future. We're pretty exhauasted and I know it has personally gotten harder and harder to come up with something fresh everyday. So we're doing what you should do when things get hard; we're getting help.
We'll be collecting a handful of people, maybe you or someone you know, and coming up with ideas. Some will be collective. Some will be solo. But we think an injection of fresh eyes, ears, and minds can't hurt. In fact, it's going to help us stay alive.
The Idea Trust will meet once a month or so to toss around ideas and come up with enough for at least another year's worth of posts. There might be some loose guidelines, but no rules. We might do some light editing, but only so we can but "editor" on our resume. We'll certainly ask for a commitment from our colleagues so that you start to recognize their styles the same way you hopefully began to recognize ours. And we would ask that you treat them with the same respect we received, which was wonderful. This is an exciting time at the empire, as it begins to take on the shape of what it will be.
See you in 2008/ five days ago/ right now.
