Wireless Utility

File this squarely in the "toasters with alarm clocks" category. Which is to say, this idea is precisely the type of adding two technologies together where they probably don't need to be together and not enhancing either one. But 1) I'd want this and 2) I think there is some kind of clarity it brings.

We're entering a technological age of all-in-one. The iPhone is the prime example of the camera/phone/computer that is actually a reasonable version of all of those things. Certainly still not as good as what each of those things separately could be, but seriously pretty good versions of all of them. And that is great.

There is another tech that has been slowly mastering this same form: the swiss army knife, or maybe even better, the leatherman.

And yes...that is what I'm suggesting.

I do think my cell phone should have a pair of scissors and a knife and probably some pliers. Besides the fact of having the most awesome multitasking device ever built, I am sure that the tech side would have to more seriously considering durability. Which is one thing that is always lacking there. Seriously. You should be able to drop your phone or fling it and have it be okay.

Oh and maybe it could get power into the utility tool world. Like you could have a small volt meter built in there. And even some small sort of power tool. But probably that is a stretch.

Still. Wave of the future.
