Happy goddamned Valentine's Day.
I suppose inserting the word "goddamned" in between "Happy" and "Valentine's" suggests a certain level of spite. Far from it. I'm all about this day. I like reasons to do nice things for people. I guess you shouldn't always need a reason, but that's a debate for another day.
Last year we did a whole series of romantic-themed ideas that touched on subjects such as food, underwear, and date activities. Well I am pulling a 180 this year and shooting for the most unsexy, non-romantic thing I can think of. Today's idea? Budget.
As in build yourself a personal budget in excel. You have some fixed costs (rent) and some things you can take a decent stab at (bills, food). And hopefully you can be reasonably sure of your income. So start plugging in the numbers. How much do you want to spend on this or that? When do you have more cash or less cash? How much do you want to save? If it turns out to be a negative total either you're fucked or you did it wrong.
I've never really done this but I'm getting to the point where I want to and think i will. I mean, it's the responsible thing to do, right? Anyway, today's idea is build yourself a goddamned budget. See? No spite.
