The wedding series: part whatever, part three

So there's this thing called Peer Trainer.

It's got a lot of ways to help you exercise, monitor what you eat, and probably lose weight. Chief among those resources is that by posting this information you are held at least partially accountable to someone else. If you eat six chili omelettes in one day, you're gonna have to tell people that. And if you lie about it, then what's the point of doing it?

Well my idea is to take that same sort of service and apply it to new couples. New married couples, specifically. You come up with some goals with your spouse and publish those. Then you update it daily or 5 times a week or whatever and make sure you're meeting those goals. You can see how other people are doing, talk to people all over the world in the same boat as you, etc. Maybe it's broken up by age, or numbers of years married, etc. Just to it's clear you're dealing with peers.

So what might you set for goals? I don't know. Number of nights out, nights in, social functions attended, time apart, time together, time not in front of the TV, puzzles finished...I'm not married so it's hard to say. But I'm sure some psychologists can help figure out the details.

I've talked to a lot of newlyweds who've struggled. Or are struggling. Which sucks. Not everyone would need this but it's one more resource for anyone who wanted it. And resources are good.
