It's an idea for a new game show called "Gold Case"!
Just kidding. Any 30 Rock fans out there? No? Never mind....
The real idea is for State governments to hide treasure in strategic places around the State (or I guess countries could paay for this as well) and then charge people for the clues and to participate.
Here's an example: California hides a ticket worth $25,000 at the Santa Barbara mission, maybe in the parking lot. Then they charge folks $5 to get in on a chance to find it and win the money. In return for the $5 you get 1) to be eligible to win the prize. No entry ticket and you don't win. and 2) you get a series of clues to decipher which will help you find the location. I feel like this would be super fun for people AND another way for the State to raise some scrilla.
Obviously there are a heap of pitfalls. Do we really want people disrupting our landmarks and neighborhoods? What if two people find it at the same time? What if someone blows all their savings looking for it? All valid questions. To which I respond; we'll figure it out later.
In the meantime, fire up your eye patch, get me a map, and let's go digging!
