Book remixes

I think the people write books, generally, are probably pretty arrogant. So I can't say with certainty that this idea would ever really fly. But hell, who know, maybe someone would be open to it. Kind of like a threesome. You know, where at least the idea of it gets entertained, even if it doesn't happen.

There was a trend a while back where bands would put out an album and then solicit remixes by the fans. Then they'd put out another album featuring all the remixes. It really gives the fans some ownership. I mean, you wouldn't even need to sell the damn thing. Just post the best ones for download somewhere.

So the idea is to the same thing with books. With a story. Once a book is released the fans can submit some reccomednations for what they would have done. Maybe characters would live or die or the ending would change. If an author were open to this, open to someone changing the events of his or her story, then it would truly become a collaborative work. This is kind of like our final perusal idea, except the power belongs to the people.

In all honesty, this is happening anyway. Fans are always talking about what they would have done/ wouldn't have done.

And this way the fans get to be heard, the author gets to sell another version of the book, and something typically thought to be so rigid would gain a sense of fluidity.

It's a way to say both "fuck you" and "what have you got to say" to the audience.
