The internet has done great things for getting rid of stuff you don't want. Craigslist is a gold mine of people wanting things that you no longer want.
What if you just wanna get rid of something for a little while tho? All you have to do is add a 'how long' field to Craigslist and you're set. Maybe someone could even rig up a cool timeline visual for the things that you want to borrow.
Obviously this only work for some things, like furniture or books or bikes or cars or something. But anything you can't have for whatever period of time, someone else would probably love to use. Of course you'd also want to have some sort of ebay like trust building system if the stuff was actually valuable. But if your choice is between giving it away forever and giving it away for awhile with a small amount of risk, you've still got a better option there.
It would be like subletting your stuff.
