Computer Parts

Did I do this already? Definitely don't remember or care this deep into the project, cause every new day is a new idea even if I'm just saying it differently.

I bought a portable hard drive today. It doesn't need a separate power supply. Which means if you would just have put a USB port on my lappy's current hard drive I could just have pulled it out and walked around with it.

That is where the spark was. Here is the idea proper.

A computer assembled with a bunch of removable parts. Now I don't know for sure how far you can take this. But let's start with the easy ones: iPod. A hard drive or like a secondary "media hard drive" could be used in the computer and could be taken out and used separately (eg when it is plugged in it charges and the screen shuts off). This solves another problem, specifically that media tends to take up most of the operating space on a hard drive and if you used a completely separate storage space for that you'd never be interfering with the computer's basic performance.

I feel like you could probably do the same with RAM storage. It could be a computer part and dual purposed as the memory card for another of your devices. Of course if you wanted to take this further you could put a removable point and shoot camera in the computer that is used as the computer's camera (or solve multiple problems by shoved all the stuff into a really good iPhone type of device).

How about if the screen could come off too? And could run as a simple touchscreen computer with a very basic operating system (eg doesn't need to media storage stuff which lives in the keyboard section as well).

Anyways more moving parts always means more possibilities for problems. But I'm going to sit here hoping anyways.
