Sex Line

You know how Kinsey had that line of heterosexuality to homosexuality where he allowed somewhat more of a gradient rather than yes or no? Yes, that one.

I think some scientifically minded artist and statistician type should create a visual representation of gender (where actually I mean biological sex). That is, commute statistically as best as possible the range of male to female by whatever standards it is that we judge such things. Now the biological side of things will still contain the bias of whatever those biological markers are determined by, but it will tell you (most likely) that there is much more of a gray scale than almost anyone thinks. What I would really be fascinated to see is if there really are any serious clusterings. Like is there a certain point part way up the male side that tends to have a larger plurality than the rest of the gradients and where does that tend to me? Is the same mirrored on the female side?

And then as a counter to this it might also be interested to map a similar chart of gender identity onto this line. Which one assumes would be far less statistically convincing, but none the less interesting and informative. This is maybe where you'd see more social pressure in action. But you still might see clusters that were or weren't willing to move along the line.

If nothing else a pretty picture. And a chance to upset the conservatives.
