Dreg's List

Not an apt title actually. Just a bad pun per us-u-al.

List and find possible ridiculous job You know Craig's List right? I would like to see a site, even the mighty CL itself, gather together all of the information about really off the wall jobs and such. Ideally this could be it's own site or a separate category made for easy searching. I intend here to refer to jobs like Sheep Herder, Forest Fire Outlook in Desolate Area, Alaskan Fisherfellow, and even, let's say, personal live-in masseur. Generally I just mean all of the off the wall, you have to be a bit crazy even to be interested, sorts of jobs. My preference would also be that this site give listings worldwide. I feel like this sorts of opportunities, which can be totally life changing, are only sort of lucked into by a miasma of right place, right time connections. How great would it be if while you were sitting at your horrible desk having run away to the circus day dreams, and you could pop onto the old Dreg's opportunities staring you right back in the face.

Maybe I am wrong and these are precisely the types of jobs that only work as the lucked into type and should be kept that way. But some people's luck is for shit. And why not give them a leg up too?

You could really extend this type of info gathering institution to all sorts of counter cultural opportunities. Including, but not limited to; alternative living situations like co-ops, cults and communes; all forms of circusing activities; and any sort of art, culture or volunteerism voyages into the unknown of myriad cultures.

Spose there is nothing to revolutionary in this, but for the fact that Craig's List is becoming an ever vaster territory that is region specific. I'd like to see something more off-the-wall specific for those eager to find another path. Isn't that what the internet is all about, helping the smallest, vaguest and most obscure of people and ideas find a way of connecting with all those other small, vague and obscure things that are maybe just perfect and worlds away? Yes...that is exactly what it is for.
