No Kit Dummers Needed

I'm sorry drummer friends, but you've played the hot commodity card all too often, you're too hard to get, and as it turns out we don't need you. This is my own personal fondness transmuted into a golden lock of idea. I like things pared down, stripped bare and um...raw? All this is to say, I think more bands need to be done with drum kits and perhaps drummers. Again, sorry drummers. My point being so many bands don't use there drummer right. And if you do, go ahead and continue using them. If they can bring the house down soloing on 8 varieties of tom more power to them. But that ain't my bag. I'm down with it. I'm moving on.

So instead of a kit you have a single floor tom and/or a snare. Its simple, you'll use em both. No worries there. And here are the pro's. So much easier to move. So much easier to play. You can seriously be a traveling band when you ditch the kit. And anyone is your band can totes figure out how to play the floor tom snare drum rag. Which means you have variety or instrumentation, every body moving around and betwixt the many any various instruments made for sound.

I've seen this more lately and I'm hoping to egg it on. There is so much energy available to those who stand with their instrument and can meander about the stage. Let's keep this up. Let's think about the benefits and let's hit the road my friends.

I resent this, sir. You obviously went and saw Lavender Diamond play (nothing against their drummer, he's a tempo master). Fie!
Spitefully,

Kevin

Kevin is my favorite drummer. I was all for this until I read his comment. Now I'm not so sure. What's he supposed to do? Drum for change on the street?!?

I mean, I'm not even a fab of my own idea now. Sorry Kevin. You are my favourite drummer. I think I would be happier if you were allowed to stand up like a full citizen of the band. Also I'm really into bands that rotate their peeps amongst the instruments.

That said, just an idea for a certain type of band. Obviously, there must continue to be kit drummers in the world fighting the good percussive fight.
