Watch me do this

The idea today is for more plain clothers police officers in high crime areas. Lots of destination resorts and parks seem to use this as a way to deter unseemly behavior and find it very effective. It seems to make sense to me...they can even just call regular officers without having to give away who they are. I guess this would be expensive, or more expensive anyway, but does education really need all that money? Take some from them.

That being said, consider this rant that did not lead to an idea. Think of it as a "bonus feature".

---------------------------

My brother bought a ridiculous watch recently. Gigantic and shiny and over-the-top expensive. Guess what it does? It tells time.

I think we all know there are watches capable of doing more. One would assume there is a watch capable of doing everything a cell phone can do, maybe more. Maybe cell phones are replacing watches.

But his watch is just a piece of fashion. It has some function, but it will never be noted for how awesomely it tells time. It just won't. It isn't for that.

Fashion and function get blurred all the time, the same way advertising and original content do. Where does one end and the other one start? Who knows? Who cares?

Look at what happens when someone gets a new phone. They tell you everything it does and then you ask to see it. Why? They just told you what it does. What difference does it make what it looks like?
