The cold hard fact of life is that most people are almost always just okay enough to go on. In my humble opinion. Me...I'm one step off of that. Maybe a little more pissed than the next guy, a little less okay. Probably just as complacent in the long run. But ce la and what not.
I purpose an internet tabulation machine. Or a real one if you'd like...that runs on what...mail in forms? I guess not that. This machine would have one purpose: to judge how people are feeling about everything. Quite simply everything together and all at once. Basically I am envisioning a voting machine of sorts with two poles: "I'm okay with the world as is" and "I am not." And the latter should certainly appear verbatim. I'm seeing it as a scale, where you could say 70% okay with the world, taking into consideration that you're a fan of some things and upset about the other 70%. Your call really.
First corrective thought is that my point is to tabulate some angry and disappoint and rage. So...to get some good heathly numbers, a non-answer will be an opt in 100% I'm cool with how things are going. In that sense I want complacency to count as loving the world as is, desiring no change. Cause what if even with that you saw that a serious chunk of people were not? If the opt ins are really that big a group, what sense of community could that form?
If the internet is good for anything it is giving you a sense of the similar presence of the rest of the world. And my hope is that we're not mindlessly watching an ad together, but something more like pissed that they've gotten so good a convincing us to watch the ad. That sort of thing.
