Hardwood Floor Cabinets
I like secret hiding places in houses. It's probably the seven year old in me who used to watch Webster. (Wasn't Dan Dierdorf on that show? Weird.) I really wish I had some cabinets buried in my hardwood floors. I guess you could do this with carpet, too. But with hardwood, you could cover the "trapdoor" with a rug or whatever. Or furniture! And there's no end to what you could store in the new space. Blankets, treasure, alcohol, books. More likely than not, this would be a good place for valuables or things you only need once or twice a year like Christmas decorations. From what I know about the building of homes, this is entirely possible. More easily done upon the building, as opposed to trying to add it in later, but it's possible at any time.
