Play Things

So the first thing you're going to say is that Facebook does this and why don't I shut my pie hole. And I'll say to you, fuck off.

I think we should all agree that social networking sites are no guarantee of keeping in better touch with your friends. Sure they provide an avenue for doing so, but just because there's an avenue doesn't mean anyone's going to stroll down it.

I purpose that people, via email or social networks or whatever means by which they communicate (hell letters would be great) invent little games to play with each other. Nate and an office co-worker play battleship over email. Now I'm sure there is an App on Facebook that does some high tech version of that, but how much more fun is it to do it yourself?

I think the whole fun would be devising some little slow moving internet contact game, that gave you a good reason to write your friends a couple times a week or so. I mean, you could even trade quips or just send each other rival haiku.

The whole idea is to create something personal and active that keeps you both wanting to write for some reason to each other so frequently. And the more creative the better.

Go to.
