Show Week

Pick a venue that you really like (this works best if the venue sticks to a particular style of music, like don't pick the big stadium that just gets the run off from MTV and the 80's). Pick a week when there are at least two dates in which bands you know and like are playing. And then go to that venue every night that week. See every show for either 5 or 7 days.

The idea is that there are a lot of bands that you really have no idea are out there. And maybe you're missing some really good shit. People use all sorts of means to learn about new bands (websites, friends, magazines). And sometimes people learn about bands by going to see one band they like and seeing this new band open.

But what if you trusted the venue itself to put on really good shows? Maybe you'd get introduced to something that you'd really like that wouldn't otherwise be on your radar. Plus it would be really interesting to see a venue that many days in a row. To see if it feel different day to day depending on the crowd. Who knows, maybe one day you show up and its little 16-23 year old punk kids dancing around and having a blast and the next day it's 30 somethings standing stalk still but still having a blast in a more depressing internal sort of way.

But yeah. Rock it.
