Rails!

Sadly I must admit that is hardly an idea, but:

Vote for the high speed train in CA!

(Still with the politics here.)

In reality this is (or seems like) an fantastic idea, it just happens not to be mine (neither the voting nor the idea proper). I do, however, fully support train travel.

When I first heard about the high speed train it seemed (and it still sort of does) like a beautiful fiction that wouldn't ever happen in my life time. And that is sad. I should think that such things are possible. I should be hopeful about the state of the world. And so should we all (despite all appearances otherwise).

So vote for that train. It'll be like the late 19th century again. Sometimes you just need sturdy metaphors to stand on. You know?
