Boat fights revisited

This is what I thought the original boat fights idea was going to be about, having read only the title. Only it wasn't, so I'm bringing it to you now.

How cool would it be if people staged real life pirate ship fights? With real cannons and real people in pirate gear, etc.

I don't really know how pirates got into authentic fights back in the day, but I'm sure someone does and they could totally replicate it. Or better yet, just get the pirates on the boats and let them have at it pirate-style with no rules and no choreography.

The boats would probably get destroyed and people could get hurt and I'd probably hate to see such good looking ships get ripped to pieces, but I still feel like everyone secretly wants to watch pirates fight on fancy old fashioned ships.

Sure you could just watch Pirates of the Caribbean at home, but wouldn't you rather go out to the San Francisco Bay and feel the cannon blasts from the safety of the shore?

This could be big like those demolition derby things. Only it would be so much classier because people would be dressed in pirate gear on fancy ships. Or maybe to change it up so that there's a more obvious hero and villain, you could have the pirates fight different things. Like the British Navy, for instance. No offense.
